Privacy Policy / गोपनीयता नीति

LekhneSathi ("the App") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your information. This Privacy Policy explains what data may be collected, how it is used, and when it may be shared when you use our features (including ads, AI generation, voice transcription, optional Listen/Translate, Rachana / रचना writing tools, Kinmel / किनमेल shopping list, Nibedan, and greeting-card photos).

1. Information We Collect / हामीले सङ्कलन गर्ने जानकारी

Depending on which features you use, the App (and SDKs used in the App) may collect/transmit the following data types:

A) Voice / Audio (Speech-to-Text)

• Voice or sound recordings (audio for transcription) may be transmitted off-device when your phone/browser uses cloud speech recognition.
• Audio is used only to generate the transcript (speech-to-text).
• iOS: Nepali voice dictation is not natively supported on iOS. In Nepali mode the microphone is hidden (composer, shopping list, Rachana / रचना forms, and other Nepali screens). Switch to English mode to use English dictation.
• Android: Nepali voice dictation is fully supported and the microphone button is available in the Nepali interface (including message composer, shopping list, and Rachana form fields).

B) User Content (AI Prompt)

• If you use AI message generation, the text you type/speak as a prompt/instruction is sent to our server to generate the response.
• Our server may use third-party AI providers (e.g., OpenAI) to generate the result.

C) Optional Translate text / वैकल्पिक अनुवाद पाठ

• If you tap Translate / अनुवाद (on the Home screen, History, messages, or Rachana drafts), the selected text may be sent over the internet to a free third-party translation endpoint (MyMemory) so the translation can be shown inside the app. Text is sent in an HTTPS POST body (not in the URL query string).
• If you choose to save a translation to History, the original text and translation are stored locally on your device only (we do not upload saved translation pairs to Lekhne Sathi servers).
• If in-app translation fails (or you choose Copy & open Google Translate), the App may copy the text to your clipboard and open Google Translate without putting the message in the Translate URL. You paste in Translate yourself.
• Translation is user-initiated only. Avoid translating highly sensitive personal content if you do not want third parties to process that text.
• We do not run our own translation backend and do not intentionally store translated content on Lekhne Sathi servers.

D) Listen / text-to-speech / सुन्नुहोस्

• Listen / सुन्नुहोस् uses on-device text-to-speech. Message text and Rachana drafts can be spoken on your device when you tap Listen.
• Quality depends on installed language voice packs. We do not upload Listen audio to Lekhne Sathi servers.

E) Rachana / रचना (Writing Assistant) & Nibedan / निवेदन

• Rachana helps you draft Nepali documents locally (speeches, notices, invitations, letters, certificates, announcements) plus the existing Nibedan wizard and optional free-form writing (स्वतन्त्र लेखन).
• Document generation uses on-device templates bundled with the App (and optional remote home quick-chip labels such as festival chips from home_chips.json). Draft text is stored locally in history/favorites on your device unless you copy, share, Listen, or Translate.
• Form fields may use voice dictation (same rules as Section A) and optional Listen / Translate (Sections C–D).
• We do not upload Rachana/Nibedan drafts to Lekhne Sathi servers solely because you generate them.

F) Photos (greeting cards) / फोटो (ग्रिटिङ कार्ड)

• If you choose मेरो फोटो on a greeting card, the App may access a photo you pick from your gallery (system photo picker).
• The photo is used locally to preview/export a card PNG as an avatar and/or background. You may resize the avatar, drag it on the card, pan and zoom the background photo, and adjust how strongly the background photo shows.
• You may also edit the message layout on the card locally (text size, drag the text box, optional text-plate style, horizontal/vertical orientation, optional festive Dashain/Tihar chrome, and decorative Nepali lifestyle themes). These choices stay on your device.
• We do not upload gallery photos or card layout settings to Lekhne Sathi servers. You control when a card image is shared.

G) Identifiers / पहिचानकर्ता

• Advertising ID (Android) may be collected/processed by advertising SDKs (e.g., Google AdMob) to show and measure ads.
• The App may generate and use a device identifier (UUID) to manage AI quota / rewarded token flow.

H) Approximate Location / करिब स्थान

• We do not request location permissions (no ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION).
• However, advertising services may derive approximate location from network signals such as IP address (e.g., city-level).

I) App Activity (Ad Interactions)

• Ad services may process app interaction signals (e.g., ad views/clicks) for ad delivery, measurement, and fraud prevention.

J) Kinmel / किनमेल (Shopping list)

• The Kinmel tab stores your shopping list locally on your device (typed or, on Android in Nepali mode, via voice).
• We do not upload shopping list items to Lekhne Sathi servers. Voice entry follows the same speech-to-text rules as Section A.

2. How We Use Information / जानकारी कसरी प्रयोग हुन्छ

App Functionality / एप चलाउन

• Speech-to-text: converting speech into text (messages, Kinmel shopping list, Rachana forms where available).
• AI generation: generating messages from your prompt (optional).
• Optional Listen: speaking message or Rachana text on-device.
• Optional Translate: translating text from Home, History, messages, or Rachana via third-party services you trigger; optional local save of translation pairs in History.
• Rachana / Nibedan / free-form writing: local drafts stored on-device.
• Kinmel: local shopping list stored on-device.
• Greeting cards: local photo pan/zoom and text-layout preview/export and share when you choose.
• Daily content / home chips: the App may fetch tips/notifications and home quick chips from our website (e.g. daily_tips.json, home_chips.json).

Advertising / विज्ञापन

• Showing ads and measuring ad performance (AdMob).
• Fraud prevention related to ads.
• Ads are displayed regardless of your tracking consent. If you decline tracking or deny the App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS, non-personalised ads are shown instead of personalised ads. The app continues to function fully either way.

Fraud Prevention, Security, Compliance

• Preventing invalid ad traffic and verifying rewarded flows.

3. Ads & Tracking Consent / विज्ञापन र ट्र्याकिङ सहमति

iOS (App Tracking Transparency)

• On iOS, you may see an App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt asking whether to allow the app to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites.
• If you allow tracking: more relevant, personalised ads are shown.
• If you decline tracking: ads are still shown, but they are non-personalised (not based on your activity across other apps).
• Your choice does not affect app functionality. All features work the same regardless of your tracking preference.

Android

• On Android, your Advertising ID may be used for ad personalisation and measurement.
• You can reset your Advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in your device Settings > Google > Ads.

4. Data Sharing / डेटा साझेदारी

The App may share/transfer data to third parties in these cases:

• Google AdMob (ads): identifiers (including Advertising ID), approximate location (derived), and interaction signals may be processed by Google for advertising/measurement/fraud prevention.
• Speech recognition providers (Google/Apple): when cloud speech recognition is used, audio may be transmitted to the provider to produce the transcript.
• AI providers (e.g., OpenAI): when AI generation is used, your prompt may be processed via our server using a third-party AI provider.
• MyMemory (optional Translate): when you use in-app Translate on Home, History, messages, or Rachana drafts, text may be sent to MyMemory’s public translation API.
• Google Translate (optional): when you choose Copy & open Google Translate, text is copied to the clipboard and Translate opens without the message in the URL; you paste in Translate.

We do not sell your personal data.

5. Data Storage and Retention / डेटा भण्डारण र अवधि

• Voice audio: We do not intentionally store raw audio on our own servers. Speech providers may process audio to return the transcript.
• AI prompts: Prompts are used to generate responses. Server/provider retention (if any) depends on the service and security requirements.
• Translate: Third-party providers (MyMemory / Google) may process text per their policies; Lekhne Sathi does not intentionally retain translate requests on our servers.
• Photos: Gallery images used for cards stay on-device for preview/export; we do not upload them to our servers.
• Local data: Generated text, translation pairs saved to History, Rachana/Nibedan/free-form drafts, Kinmel shopping lists, history, preferences, greeting de-dupe history, and cached AI replies may be stored locally on your device.
• Remote config: Home quick chips / tips JSON fetches may reveal standard network metadata (e.g., IP) to the CDN/server; chip labels themselves are not personal data.

6. Your Choices / तपाईंको विकल्प

• Microphone: You can choose whether to use voice input.
• AI generation: You can choose whether to use AI generation; local generator works without AI.
• Listen / Translate: Optional; only run when you tap the buttons.
• Photos: Optional; only used when you pick a photo for a card.
• Sharing: You control when you copy/share your generated text or card images.
• Tracking (iOS): You can allow or deny tracking via the ATT prompt; ads still show either way.
• Advertising ID (Android): You can reset or opt out in device settings.

7. Platform-Specific Notes / प्लेटफर्म-विशेष नोटहरू

iOS

• Nepali voice dictation is not natively supported on iOS. In Nepali mode the microphone is hidden (composer, shopping list, Rachana forms, and other Nepali screens). Switch to English mode to use English dictation.
• Photo Library access may be requested only if you add a photo to a greeting card.
• App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt may appear for ad tracking preferences.
• Ads are served regardless of ATT choice (personalised or non-personalised).

Android

• Nepali voice dictation is fully supported on Android. The microphone button is available in the Nepali interface (including Rachana form fields).
• Greeting-card photos use the system photo picker where available.
• Advertising ID may be used for ad personalisation; can be managed in device settings.

8. Security / सुरक्षा

• Data transmission uses encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) where applicable.
• No system can be guaranteed 100% secure; please keep your device secure.
• Optional Translate may send text to MyMemory over HTTPS POST, or copy text to the clipboard before opening Google Translate (no message text in the Translate URL). Avoid Translate for secrets or highly sensitive content.

9. Children's Privacy / बालबालिकाको गोपनीयता

LekhneSathi is not intended to knowingly collect personal data from children.

10. Changes to This Policy / नीतिमा परिवर्तन

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with an updated effective date.
